About this piece: 
My depression era grandmother (Frances Julia), hailing from East Tennessee, loved anything gold, French and maximalist. She was a self-taught master of interior design. Her home was her canvas.
She would have loved this piece, I think. I can just hear her giggling, “Isn’t it gaudy? I just LOVE it!”
In addition to her home, friends and family, she valued her vote! She stayed informed and voted her values right up until her death at age 94. 
As with all of these pieces, there are many layers. This painting has been 3…one of which was an Election Day reminder to vote. If you look closely, you’ll see the remaining textured outline of the letters V,O,T,E oriented vertically.
